Emilee Crowder, online trauma therapist for womenshe’s a therapist AND a client :)

Hi, I'm Emilee Crowder: an online trauma therapist for women

As a therapist, I really believe that the relationship between the therapist & client is everything. It's important to feel comfortable & connected to your therapist! That's why I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation before we officially start our sessions (we'll get that scheduled after you fill out my Therapy Interest Form). Hopefully the information on this page gives you a good preview of who I am. You can also stalk me on my (therapy) Instagram page & get a feel for my therapy style.

I'm Emilee Crowder, a licensed therapist (LPC, LMHC & CMHC) offering virtual therapy for women in Alaska, Arizona, Texas, Utah & Washington, with a focus on people-pleasing, anxiety, attachment wounds, relational trauma & religious trauma. When it fits, I also incorporate EMDR.

My journey

I absolutely love being a therapist. Before I was a therapist, though, I was first a client (I still am :). Here are a few of the moments that brought me here.

  1. Age 5

    My first therapist

I went to therapy for the first time when I was 5 years old. I adored my therapist & looked forward to my time with her so much that I told everyone I wanted to be a psychologist when I grew up.

  2. Growing up

    Raised in the LDS church

I grew up in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which shaped my values, my relationships & a lot of who I learned to be. I went to BYU & served a mission in New York City.

  3. 2019

    Deciding to become a therapist

After years of career confusion, I finally made the decision to go back to school to become a therapist. My therapist at the time was a big factor in my decision. I wanted to create a safe space for others, like she had created for me.

  4. 2020

    My own faith transition

Leaving the church meant rebuilding my beliefs, my community & my sense of self. It's a big part of why I understand religious trauma from the inside.

  5. 2022

M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling

I graduated from the University of North Texas, where the 5-year-old who wanted to be a psychologist finally got her wish (close enough!).

  6. 2023

    Opening Therapy with Emilee

I knew all along that I wanted to open my own private practice. I took the leap so that I could work with the clients I felt I could help the most: people-pleasers & those deconstructing religion.

  7. 2025

    Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas

After 5,000 supervised hours, I became a fully licensed therapist!

  8. Today

Providing online therapy & doing what I love

I work with women virtually in five states (AK, AZ, TX, UT & WA) & get to do what I love every day!

why I became a therapist

I became a therapist because I want everyone to experience a safe space like the ones my therapists gave me, and the empowerment I've felt as I've learned about myself & healed. Even though I now sit in the therapist chair, I know from my years on the couch that life is hard & therapy isn't always fun. Some of my lived experience has also shaped the areas I feel especially connected to in this work, including attachment wounds, relational trauma, religious trauma, anxiety & learning how to trust yourself after experiences that taught you not to.

My strengths

Deep & hilarious

One of my good friends once told me, “Emilee, I love you because you are deep AND hilarious.” This resonates with me, and I know these are two of my strengths that I carry with me through life & authentically hold in the therapy room.

In our time together you'll experience that depth, and I'll offer you real insight. You'll also experience my humor. There will be tears throughout the therapy process, but there will also be laughter.

Resources to explore between sessions

I feel very passionate about sharing what I've learned through my education! In our time together, I'll naturally weave psychoeducation into our sessions (relevant, evidence-based information about your mental health). I'll also regularly recommend resources for you to explore on your own time, including books, podcasts, websites, Instagram accounts & professional referrals.

A relational experience

I love being relational by exploring & sharing aspects of our relationship. I'll share when I feel connected to you, I'll apologize when I mess up, I'll ask you to help me understand your boundaries in our relationship & I'll check in to see how you feel when I share parts of my own identity. Hopefully this will allow us to create a safe & authentic space, and we'll learn how you can take aspects of our relationship into your other relationships.

My interests

I'm happiest when I'm creating something, spending time in nature, or exploring new places. I'm a hobbyist, so I enjoy trying new things (& those things don't always stick for long) but some things I currently love include playing pickleball, arranging flower bouquets, trying new coffee shops around Dallas, watching Bravo or Survivor, traveling to visit friends & going on walks with my paralyzed pitbull, Potato. I feel most fulfilled when I am spending time with my people: enjoying new experiences together or sharing deeper parts of ourselves with each other. I believe there is nothing more important than human connection :)
